The Operational Excellence team is a group of experts in Operational Excellence and Mining Operations designed to support sites in the improvement of operations and support delivery of improvement projects. The Senior Advisor, Operational Excellence role is specifically designed to partner with site teams to facilitate problem and solution identification, prioritization and execution of initiatives leveraging stakeholders across all site departments and ETC.
This role reports to the Senior Manager, Operational Excellence.
Salary and title will be based on the level of education and experience of the candidate.
What you will do:
Conduct end-to-end analysis of various types of data (e.g., tonnage mined, tonnage hoisted, cutting delays, cycle times, equipment productivity, maintenance delays, etc.) ranging from data collection, to data cleaning, and data analysis to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement in mining processes.
Work with multi-functional groups of people to facilitate development of improvement initiatives, ensuring high levels of collaboration, accountability and buy-in from the internal groups involved.
Drive conversations with Superintendents, General Foreman, ETC teams and other key internal stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of process drivers to inform opportunity identification and value prioritization.
Attend and facilitate discussion across site and central teams during working sessions to enable brainstorming of solutions for identified opportunities and knowledge sharing across different areas of expertise.
Develop materials to facilitate and frame the appropriate discussions during site team working sessions.
Size the estimated value of different opportunities through combining analytic insights with interviews and discussions with the appropriate individuals on each expertise area.
Prepare key insights from analysis (e.g., key value opportunities, proposed solutions) to share at working sessions to pressure test assumptions and validate analysis.
Facilitate the sharing of best practices, create relationships, and develop processes and tools to continue to build and refine the operational excellence approach.
Report to Senior Manager, Operational Excellence, while accountable to initiative leads and teams to reach targets.
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (P. Eng considered an asset), Business or related discipline, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
A passion and skillset for data sourcing, cleaning, analyzing and visualizing to develop narrative around opportunities.
6+ years of experience in process optimization, with knowledge and experience of mining and milling processes.
Certifications in Green/Black Belt utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies considered an asset.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, Minitab, Seeq to develop models to run data analysis, experience with large datasets.
Goal oriented and flexible with proven track record in collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to manage and coordinate discussion across diverse stakeholders.
Track record of successful execution of results in a team setting.
Strong communication skills with ability to process and explain complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions.
