Summary The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting senior partners in the management of investment relationships and funds for high net worth and institutional clients in a multi-asset framework. Will work with senior partners to help develop investment objectives and guidelines for clients, and perform investment and risk analysis to support these relationships. Responsibilities also include monitoring client portfolios, external investment managers, and the production of client reporting. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assist senior partners in the management and risk analysis of investment accounts. Conduct asset allocation studies to identify optimal portfolios tailored to achieve client goals, incorporating client risk tolerance levels, funding and income needs, and knowledge of current Economic and financial market conditions. Assist in the construction, oversight, and marketing of multi-asset and multi-manager portfolios used to fulfill target asset allocations. Assist in developing new tools to improve the strategist team’s investment management capabilities. Research for new ideas and opportunities found in academic literature and creatively apply to current investment processes. Gather, analyze, and compile various statistics on pooled funds and separate accounts (i.e. asset types, bond quality rates, performance statistics, etc.) from external investment managers, to create investment summaries for internal and external use. Provide senior partners with statistical and market data, such as market outlook and graphs, for use in creating marketing booklets and other materials for Northern Trust clients. Oversee distribution of reports. Research and analyze investment data to formulate investment recommendations to select and/or replace external investment managers. Assist in the monitoring and management of the relationships with external investment managers. Display high level of teamwork toward achieving Northern Trust’s goals. Maintain a positive influence in the group. Proactively advise Northern Trust partners of issues that may affect client/prospects in either a positive or negative way. Work with Legal and Compliance to help ensure all aspects of the client relationship, investment process, and reporting adhere to the policies and procedures. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 3 - 5 years industry related experience, preferably in the Manager of Managers business. Strong analytical skills and ability to provide investment recommendations based on qualitative and quantitative information. Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) required. Experience with macros and programming (VBA, R, or Python) preferred. Knowledge of returns based, positions based, risk analysis, and optimization software. CFA or CSI’s CIM® designation is required, with CAIA designation preferred.
