Job Summary Position is responsible for planning, reviewing, and implementing all activities and functions of clinical transformation using Information Technology, providing ongoing managerial, technical and motivational leadership while supporting the values and objectives of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. The Clinical Pharmacy Informaticist will participate in clinical transformation through careful analysis of current processes and workflow and change management strategies that align with our strategic plan, leveraging available resources, metrics, benchmarks; and system standards across the enterprise. Transformation comes with a patient's view of continuation of care, department view of integration, and a clinician's view of best practice. The Pharmacy Clinical Informaticist will work closely with system and campus leadership and resources to assist in the design of the CIS system and build consensus around the process, workflow, and content for the CIS. The Clinical Pharmacy Informaticist must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills required in a large, complex corporate Information System. The Clinical Pharmacy Informaticist applies change management and technical skills in line with the values and goals of MHHS to ensure the efficient, effective and consistent delivery of high quality services. The Clinical Pharmacy Informaticist is responsible for translating process and workflow decisions into educational materials leveraging change management and adult learning principles. Job Description Minimum Qualifications Education: Pharm.D or B.S in Pharmacy (prior to 2006) Licenses/Certifications: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas Experience / Knowledge / Skills One (1) year of pharmacy experience required Effective oral and written communication skills, presentation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Working knowledge of pharmacology and pharmacy processes (Inpatient or Ambulatory) Working knowledge of Information Systems in a healthcare setting Ability to effectively work with all levels of the organization Principal Accountabilities Participates in the development of an overall strategy to clinical transformation through the use of CIS technology, and participates in development for MHHS. Uses clinical knowledge, past clinical experience to do quality review of medication related content (dosage, indications, frequency, contraindications) in the electronic medical record tools. Works closely with operational pharmacy staff to drive clinical transformation using the electronic medical record tools. Plans, organizes, and assists in CIS implementations, and the infrastructure required to support these applications, to meet current and future technology needs and supports the business goals and objectives of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. Identifies opportunities for optimization of processes leading to reduced variation and increased efficiencies. Seeks input from physicians, nurses, and other professionals to identify problems, find and implement solutions, and communicate the findings to the CMIOs and ISD leadership. Works to create increased utilization, promotes adoption, and creates sustainability of the CIS through multi-disciplinary teams and create an infrastructure for reporting quality information. Works closely with the Support Services, Facility Readiness, IS Project Managers, and IS analysts to coordinate the strategic changes determined by the clinical leadership/executive team and IS leadership. Maintains a good communication line between Campus Administration, Facility Departments and Information Services. Supports all requests for Projects, service requests and problem tickets through the established channels in the Division. Assist with provision of high quality technology and change management consulting services. Helps promote data integrity, vocabulary consistency, and optimization of reporting methods. Actively participates with implementation team(s) during installation of new computer functions or enhancements to existing functions which impact diagnostic and clinical areas. Demonstrates and presents system functions and capabilities to visitors and other audiences, presenting the leading edge and comprehensive nature of MHHS systems. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization, and serves as a customer resource. Demonstrates successful use of Division procedures when working on project teams, including use of planned agendas, project plans, and minutes of regularly scheduled meetings. Maintains/develops other administrative and communication skills such as conducting meetings, writing and speaking clearly and in a businesslike manner Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
