ISL is seeking Intermediate/Senior Engineer to join our expanding Bridge team in Calgary.
The scope for the role depends on your experience level, but in all cases, the focus will be to continue the growth of ISL’s bridge/structural engineering services in Western Canada, which vary from standalone bridge design to coordinated multidisciplinary projects in support of our Transportation, Municipal & Community, Buildings and Earth & Environment sectors. ISL’s Bridge Team works on projects involving bridge design, rehabilitation, and pedestrian bridge design. The team addresses construction staging challenges, remote access issues, mass-timber bridges of various styles, and inspection of diverse bridge structures from long-span tied arches to mountain trail bridges at high altitudes. Additional responsibilities include work related to retaining walls, culverts, transportation infrastructure, and seismic retrofit and rehabilitation of bridges and buildings. There are instances when research is conducted alongside practical project implementation. As you can see our work is rich in diversity and complexity.

Your resume should show us:
P.Eng. designation with APEGA.
A minimum of seven years of experience within the engineering consulting industry.
Project Management experience supporting bridge and/or structural projects.
Past experience mentoring and leading others through project management informally or formally.
Experience delivering bridge design and/or analysis projects from start to finish.
Experience in marketing and/or procurement of projects.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and work with junior staff and technicians within a team environment.
Familiarity with Canadian design codes and standards.
Excellent proposal writing skills with an interest in business development.
Bonus points for:
Master's or post-graduate degree in Structural or Bridge Engineering an asset.
Preference given to candidates with experience with Alberta Transportation & Economic Corridors or similar provincial clients (BC Ministry of Transportation & Transit).
Seismic design & retrofit experience an asset.
Suspension bridge & cable stay experience an asset.
Bridge inspection experience an asset.
A Little More About the Role
Our Intermediate/Senior Engineers have the capability to support projects all across Western Canada. With a strong focus on supporting local construction and design projects in Alberta primary responsibilities include:
Structural analysis and design of bridge and transportation infrastructure engineering assignments.
Lead or assist with project management tasks.
Maintain positive client relations.
Assistance with business development and proposal preparation.
Travel for field work, when required.
Technical mentorship of junior & intermediate staff, as appropriate.

Depending on your experience level, the salary range for this position is:
$110 - $140K (based on a 40-hour work week, not including overtime).
