The Opportunity

As the Strategic Initiatives Lead, you will be a key contributor in the successful implementation of BC Ferries’ corporate strategy and strategic imperatives. Operating as an individual contributor, you will bring your expertise to engage and collaborate with senior level leaders from across the organization. Your focus will be supporting these leaders in creating and managing implementation plans to advance specific areas of service transformation, establish KPIs, track and manage status and risks and facilitating the governance framework necessary to keep the execution of our strategy on plan.

As an experienced thought leader, you are comfortable operating across high-level information and zooming into the details getting directly involved to advance outcomes. The Role
This role may report to the Manager, Strategy & Planning or the Executive Director, Strategy & Planning depending upon experience level. In this role your key responsibilities include:
Coordinating, supporting and tracking corporate strategy implementation; this includes but is not limited to:
Working with directors, executive directors and VPs to document their imperative implementation plans and major milestones, along with timely tracking and reporting of execution status and risks.
Facilitate the coordination of directors with interdependent focus areas to align and coordinate their plans.
Planning and facilitation of executive forums for the purpose of reviewing and discussing execution status.
Planning and supporting updates and performance conversations between BC Ferry Services and key interest holders in delivery of the Charting the Course vision framework.
Direct leadership and support in the delivery of select critical strategic initiatives or projects. This may include:
Coordination and oversight of individuals from across multiple disparate enterprise functions to deliver on projects and outcomes.
Hands-on delivery of strategic initiatives by way of analysis, opportunity identification, solution design and/or implementation
What you bring to the team
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Commerce, Engineering or Computer Science
Master's Degree in Business Administration is an asset
PMP Designation is an asset
At least 8+ years of experience working in a mid-to-large sized corporate environment
At least 5 years of experience supporting strategy development and/or strategic initiative implementations at a business unit or enterprise level
At least 3 years of experience in project or program delivery, overseeing delivery of one or more strategic initiatives
Demonstrated experience performing detailed business analysis to identify root cause challenges or opportunities, identifying IT, process or structure solutions to problems and then directly delivering or leading delivery of those solutions
Demonstrated experience working with and coordinating multi-functional teams to deliver on a major outcome
Ability to operate with a high degree of independence, working individually with director level BCFS team members to help them structure business planning and ensure a cadence of accountability
Experience leading major change in a customer experience or operations environment is an asset
Experience working in a management consulting or equivalent environment is an asset
Highly organized and able to juggle large volumes of detail through maintenance of frameworks
In depth experience in MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word

Additional information
The target salary range: $132,600 - $165,700 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
