Job Description What is the Opportunity? ECT, aligned under Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO) structure, is a centralized group responsible to execute control testing in accordance with RBC’s Internal Control Management Policy (ICMP), leveraging consistent set of practices and Standard. This team partners with diverse business functions and partners to execute control testing by: 1) Establishing procedures and enforcing policy, standard and framework related to control testing (i.e., ICMP, ICMS). 2) Providing oversight and credible challenge to Platforms’ key controls. 3) Undertaking control assurance activities (i.e. controls testing) to assess effectiveness of controls employed by Platforms or requested by Management. 4) Reporting to Senior Management Teams on the state of risk and control environment. 5) Identifying opportunities, risks, and issues to propose recommendations to supported Platforms to improve the control environment. The primary role of the incumbent is to act as a team Lead in ECT, deliver the vision and execute ECT program/Book of Work. The Associated Director leads a team of Analysts, Senior Analysts, Managers and oversee responsibility of the larger team to strategize execution, develop training plan and assist in capacity planning for timely execution of control testing as per mandate. The incumbent is required to be a domain subject matter expert in risk management practices and control evaluation programs, providing value added business process re-engineering through proactively monitoring progress on control testing, data, and overall compliance with bank policies. The incumbent works closely with and reports to Director, ECT. The incumbent is expected to be a key liaison between ECT and Platform stakeholders throughout the control evaluation lifecycle and reporting. What will you do? Team Lead with ECT and oversee control testing program execution: Demonstrate strong leadership skills to effectively Lead, guide and coach a team of Analysts, Senior Analysts and Managers in managing and completing the testing of controls for the assigned Testing Program. Build skills, competencies, and identify training needs to develop subject matter expertise in risk management and control evaluation activities. Demonstrate advanced level of risk management knowledge. To understand RBC/Enterprise control evaluation standards, methodology, deeper understanding of RBC’s businesses/subsidiaries to facilitate partnership and support Functions in identification and assessment of risks and controls. Day-to-day management of team (e.g., attract, hire, and retain talent, resource planning, distribution of assignments, conflict resolution). Participate in performance management of staff and provide feedback to staff. Develop and implement action plans in response to employee feedback and engagement surveys Create and manage control evaluation coverage plans, metrics and maintain ECT tools/archive system. Perform review and sign-off on control evaluation work papers and results, as needed. Act as primary escalation point for control testers. Develop relationships across the organization as to facilitate communication and strategic partnerships. Facilitate and advise ECT partners on the Control Testing status for the assigned program. Provide comprehensive results of the Testing program to ECT Management and other stakeholders. Demonstrate negotiation and persuasion skills to conduct periodic meetings/presentations to socialize controls gaps and issues identified. Ensure control evaluations are completed timely and meet quality standards. Resolve issues and escalations resulting from control evaluations Project & Strategic Support Stakeholder management when liaising with Platform stakeholders and local managers on work/program assignments. Support ECT in maintaining oversight of Book of Work & ECT control testing program execution and support any change initiatives. Contribute to ad-hoc assignments/special process improvement projects to enhance maturity of ECT program/increase efficiencies etc., Participate in regular discussions with ECT Senior Management on ECT strategies, work plans and other matters. Leverage on advanced writing and communication skills to develop Senior Management briefing materials and periodic management reporting. Lead development and maintenance of ORM tools/templates utilized to execute qualitative risk assessments and control testing. What do you need to succeed? Experience in performing Risk & Control Assessments and/or Controls Testing. Experience in execution of broader Operational Risk framework and practice. Familiarity with Operational Risk Management Framework in a banking/ financial services environment. Experience in performing Quality Assurance/ oversight activities. Ability to build relationship and partner with multiple stakeholders. High attention to details and strong analytical skills. Highly motivated, self-starter, problem solver, solution oriented.
