Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.
We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Security Guard – Summary of Duties
Under general supervision, this role is responsible for safeguarding property against theft, damage, and unauthorized access, while ensuring the safety of all individuals on the premises. Duties include conducting routine patrols to identify irregularities, inspecting security systems and fire control equipment, and responding to emergencies in accordance with established protocols.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and authorize entry and exit of employees, visitors, and contractors to maintain site safety and prevent unauthorized access.
Conduct regular patrols to detect and deter safety hazards, theft, vandalism, and violations of company policies.
Inspect doors, windows, gates, and other access points to ensure physical security of the premises.
Respond promptly to emergency situations including fires, chemical spills, medical incidents, and security threats.
Document and report incidents, irregularities, and daily activities including property damage, theft, and unauthorized presence.
Manage the Visitor Management System for all guests, contractors, and employees.
Audit temporary and emergency badges as required.
Retrieve and distribute identification badges for new employees and contractors.
Report lost, stolen, or missing badges to IDS and Security Operations Centers (SOC).
Answer AMD phone lines during business hours to relay messages, respond to inquiries, and provide general information.
Deliver customer service in alignment with company standards and expectations.
Maintain clear and timely communication with the Security team regarding incidents or operational concerns.
Complete assigned tasks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Prepare and submit detailed reports on security activities and incidents.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize proper body mechanics during all physical tasks.
Maintain situational awareness and always remain vigilant.
Demonstrate composure and sound judgment during high-stress or crisis situations.
Exhibit empathy and professionalism when interacting with employees and addressing their concerns.
Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
Show initiative in learning all aspects of the role and progressing through the designated level system.
WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU TO OFFER US:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
Ontario Security Guard License (OSGL).
First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Minimum 6 months security experience.
Must be able to obtain Reliability Security Clearance – minimum 5 years Canadian residency
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility to work scheduled and unscheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Potential exposure to high noise levels and varying weather conditions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications is required.

Hours of work: 0700 – 1500, Monday to Friday
