Position Overview: The Senior Fabrics Developer is responsible for driving innovative, high-performance textile development that aligns with design intent, sustainability goals, cost targets, and commercialization timelines. As a senior subject-matter expert, this role collaborates cross-functionally and monitors the day-to-day development work of Developers and Associates, providing technical guidance and mentorship. Main Office: 100 Queens Quay East, Toronto, ON About You: Lead end-to-end fabric development for key product categories from concept to commercialization. Translate design direction and merchandising needs into actionable fabric briefs with aligned performance, cost, and sustainability requirements. Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure fabric aesthetics and technical requirements meet brand standards. Monitor and support the daily work of Developers and Associates to ensure alignment with seasonal timelines and quality expectations. Provide day-to-day guidance, troubleshoot challenges, and elevate technical decision-making across multiple fabric programs. Ensure consistency and clarity across material briefs, fabric standards, and testing requirements. Collaborate with the Sourcing team, who lead supplier management and negotiations. Manage fabric development communication and performance discussions with mills and suppliers. Drive resourcing and counter-sourcing initiatives to optimize the material portfolio and mitigate risks. Possess strong knowledge of testing methods and standards to support fabric development decisions. Collaborate closely with the Product Integrity & Compliance (PIC) team, who oversee testing protocols, interpret results, and manage material issue resolution and corrective actions. Maintain accurate records of development activities in PLM and ERP systems; support BOM creation and data integrity. Track progress on seasonal development KPIs including adoption rate, cost efficiency, and lead-time adherence. Coordinate seasonal sample yardage and fabric requests in partnership with product development and sourcing. Oversee and maintain the fabric library to ensure materials are accurately archived, accessible, and aligned with seasonal and development needs. Stay current with innovations in yarns, finishes, and performance technologies to help advance material capabilities. About The Role: Degree in Textile Science, Material Engineering, or a related field. 4-6 years of experience in fabric/materials development within the apparel or performance textile industry. Background in technical outerwear, sportswear, or fashion/lifestyle performance preferred. Deep understanding of textile construction, dyeing/finishing, lamination, and performance testing. Strong project leadership and task prioritization skills across multiple programs. Proven ability to guide junior team members and foster collaborative development workflows. Experience with PLM and ERP systems; Centric or PTC a plus. Strong communication, problem-solving, and vendor negotiation skills. Fluent in English (written and verbal); additional languages are an asset. What’s in it For You?
