Job Summary The research assistant will work on a study tied to the Cancer Rehabilitation and Exercise - Advanced Cancer (CaRE-AC) program. The main roles will include assisting with a mixed research methods study to identify factors that hinder or support rehabilitation delivery from the perspectives of patients who took part in the program and healthcare providers and exercise professionals involved in delivering the program. The study also aims to develop resources to train the next generation of individuals involved in delivering CaRE-AC based on interview findings. The Research Assistant will assist with various research and administrative activities. This includes quality checking interview transcripts, conducting thematic analysis of interviews, planning and facilitating resource development meetings, survey creation and data collection to evaluate the developed resources, and quantitative data analysis. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team. Organizational Status The position will work directly with the investigators who are mounting the study. Responsibilities include working independently in a setting that involves varied and complex tasks such as data collection and analysis, research study coordination, and collaboration with stakeholders and health care providers. Work Performed Quality check interview transcripts for accuracy and completeness. Conduct thematic analysis of interview data to identify key themes and insights. Assist in planning and facilitating resource development sessions to create healthcare provider resources to support cancer rehabilitation delivery Collaborate with healthcare providers and patients to gather feedback and incorporate it into resource development Create online surveys for resource evaluation using Qualtrics Survey distribution and data collection, and quantitative analysis of survey data Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and publications related to the study Perform literature searches to support the development of research questions and grant applications Prepare ethics applications and ensure compliance with ethical standards Support communication strategies to ensure participants, healthcare providers, other collaborators, and the public are aware of research projects and findings Consequence of Error/Judgement Inappropriate judgment would compromise the quality of the research study, related data acquisition and the reporting of research outcomes. Inappropriate judgment would also compromise research success, participant safety and ethical approval, thus affect the credibility of the Investigators Supervision Received The Research Assistant’s work is primarily under the supervision of the postdoctoral research fellow leading the project (K. Bland) who will provide instruction and guidance, including unusual problems or matters which depart from established policy and procedures. Performance evaluations will be held between the employee and the study PIs twice during the term; 1-2 months after employee start date and once at the end of employment. These evaluations are aimed at providing the Research Assistant with the opportunity to discuss and reflect on job strengths, goals and areas for growth with the supervisor.
