Your opportunity
The Restructuring and Insolvency group provides consulting services to companies in transitions, lenders and investors and other stakeholders. We are looking for Associates to provide support on a variety of insolvency engagements, including bankruptcy, receivership, proposals and consulting files
Your major responsibilities
• Work on both informal and formal corporate restructuring and insolvency engagements including CCAA, receivership, bankruptcy, proposal, and consulting files
• Liaise with key stakeholders including debtors, creditors, auctioneers and appraisers
• Prepare key sections of viability assessments, including statements of estimated security position
• Develop outcome analysis based on various circumstances
• Draft key sections of memorandums, reports and other correspondence
• Prepare financial models, including cash flow modeling and forecasting
• Maintain effective communication with accurate and timely information
• Develop a strong understanding of our clients’ needs and provide advice where necessary
• Conduct research and keep current with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA)
• Assist in the preparation of proposals and various presentations
• Attend industry workshops, professional associations and committees
• Market the firm’s services
What we look for
• Post-secondary degree specializing in business, accounting or finance
• A CPA designation, and pursuing or an interest to pursue CIRP and Licensed Insolvency Trustee designations
• Work experience with an insolvency or a public accounting firm is preferred
• A keen interest in working on restructuring and insolvency engagements; experience would be an asset
• Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients or other parties
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with well-developed project management skills
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid understanding of business professionalism and the ability to work in a team environment
