Job Description: Position Purpose summary: The Community Justice Worker is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the Community Service Order Program for Adults 18+ for Woodstock and surrounding areas. A community service order is a court ordered sanction within a probation order or conditional sentence, under which an individual must perform a specific number of community work hours within a specific timeframe. The program involves accused persons being held accountable through community-based sanctions. Accountabilities Program Facilitate and promote the coordination, facilitation, and promotion of the Community Service Order Program for adults 18+ for Woodstock & area. Liaise with Probation Services and Community Partners. Coordinate and document appropriate community placement sites. Monitor and document completion of Community Service Hours based on client assessment of abilities, skills, interest, location, accessibility, transportation, and schedules. Work as an advocate with Community agencies including Police Services, Mental Health, Addiction Services, Education, Justice Sector, Housing, etc. Volunteers/Student Placements Mentor and support student placements and/or volunteers if applicable. Agencies and Community Resources Community development to increase awareness of the Community Service Order Program for Woodstock area. Maintain appropriate Community Placements. Communicate with Probation Services and Community Placement Partners. Work as an advocate for Clients with Community agencies including Police Services, Crown, Mental Health, Addiction Services, Probation, Education, Justice Sector, Housing, etc. Administration Complete monthly submission of Salvation Army – SAMIS statistics. Complete monthly submission of program data and Reconciliations Reports to Probation Services Prepare for and participate in Salvation Army Accreditation and Annual Divisional Reviews. Prepare/submit case notes, as per policy. Process Referrals, Intakes and Completions. Health and Safety: Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Act as the certified JH&S representative for the London Office. Perform other position related duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a permanent part-time position based on 20 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required. Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities. Travel is associated with this position Providing service to Woodstock and surrounding county Normal hours of work: Monday to Friday and includes a ½-hour unpaid meal break where applicable. Shift day and times are subject to client availability. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Normal location of work is: Woodstock ON N6B The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, exemplifying Christian standards of conduct. education and experience Qualifications: Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Completed two (2) or more years of Community College, i.e. Social Services Diploma or equivalent diploma is required. An Undergraduate Degree in Social Services preferred Minimum of two (2) years prior related experience in working with adults. Valid First Aid/CPR Certification. Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required with $2 million in liability insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. Must provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements Minimum of two (2) year of prior related experience, preference in community programs working with adult and youth at risk. Working knowledge of the area and community resources of London/Middlesex and Strathroy. Knowledge and experience in restorative justice practices. Good public relation skills. Skills and Capabilities: Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Self-motivated/disciplined. Lead by example, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change. Ability to administer and supervise program, work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work with other community and government criminal/justice services. Demonstrate a high level of integrity, good judgment, and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills and respect authority. Participate in mandatory orientation training, on-going professional development and training. Participate in regular supervision and performance appraisal processes. Proficient in working in a computerized environment; must demonstrate strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Power Point Ability to adhere to The Salvation Army Standards of Conduct and Code of Ethics. Represent the organization in a positive, professional and engaging manner. Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures and associated legislation. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $21.83 to $27.29 with a maximum of $32.75.
