Summary of Role
Educators at MAGMA play a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of children across both our licensed and unlicensed childcare centres. In the Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) program, educators focus on the unique needs of newcomer children and their families, fostering cultural integration and settlement support. In the World of Wonders Early Learning Centre, educators provide inclusive, high-quality early childhood education to children from all backgrounds. Across both settings, educators create safe, nurturing, and stimulating environments that promote holistic development through play, guided learning, and meaningful relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Unlicensed Daycare (Care for Newcomer Children)
- Follow CNC Requirements including group ratios
- Prepare and maintain a safe, welcoming environment
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities
- Monitor entrances/exits and supervise children
- Maintain records and communicate with families
- Collaborate with co-educators and attend meetings
Licensed Daycare (World of Wonders Early Learning Centre)
- Implement curriculum aligned with NB Early Years Learning Framework
- Plan and facilitate play-based and interdisciplinary learning
- Assess and document developmental progress
- Foster positive behavior and social-emotional growth
- Engage families through communication and events
- Participate in professional development and team collaboration
Physical Requirements
This job involves working with young children and includes lifting and participating in physical activities. It may also involve the supervision of children and physical activities outdoors in different weather conditions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
- Experience in childcare (asset)
- First Aid & CPR certification
- Valid security clearance (Vulnerable Persons & Social Development checks)
- Physical ability to engage in active play and supervision
