CROSSING GUARD
Currently, the City of Belleville has an exciting opportunity for two highly motivated, strategic, and dynamic individuals to join our Transportation and Operations Services Department as a Crossing Guard.

Location: Various locations as assigned throughout the City of Belleville
Hours: Varied, but less than 24 hours/week.
Employee Group: Non-Union
Salary: $18.12 per hour
Closing Date: Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 4:30 PM
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the safe movement of children in our community by assisting with crossing streets in a safe and professional manner
Remain vigilant of traffic situations
Maintain a friendly and positive attitude toward children, their guardians and the public
Demonstrate adherence to safety rules
Report dangerous driving, crossing issues or suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities

REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must possess the ability to make accurate decisions keeping in mind the safety of children at all times
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (“CRC”) and Vulnerable Sector Screening (“VSC”) prior to commencing work at the City of Belleville.
Good observation skills and the ability to interact with children and the general public in a positive and friendly manner
Must obey all established safety regulations
Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector at own expense
Required to work outdoors in various weather and traffic conditions
Must be able to work split shifts and provide own transportation
