POSITION Pharmacy Assistant – Shipping and Receiving
COMPANY AND LOCATION Peritus Medical (Oshawa)

HOURS WORKED Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a self-directed, reliable and highly organized Pharmacy Assistant – Shipping and Receiving to manage the flow of incoming and outgoing pharmacy shipments. This position is responsible for preparing, packaging, and verifying medication
and supply deliveries, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy standards and operating procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and takes pride in supporting the accurate and timely movement of pharmaceutical products and supplies to our patients and providers.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Receiving & Verification
· Receive and unload incoming shipments, confirming contents against purchase orders and packing slips for accuracy.
· Inspect received materials for discrepancies and damage.
· Unpack, label, and organize received items (first in, first out) for proper storage and use within the pharmacy.
Order Preparation & Shipping
· Pick, pack, and label outgoing medication and supply orders following established pharmacy procedures.
· Ensure all orders are packed accurately and securely following procedures for packing room-temperature and cold-chain product.
Inventory & Material Management
· Maintenance of pharmacy stock through inventory management system (product returns, expired/damaged product disposal, organizing inventory/packaging supplies)
· Assist with regular stock counts, expiry checks and report inventory discrepancies or shortages promptly
· Maintain accurate records and documentation related to shipping, receiving, and inventory management.
Operational Support
· Perform warehouse and general labour duties to support daily operations.
· Ensure the work environment remains clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.
· Maintain detailed and confidential records of all client and patient information.
· Communicate effectively with the pharmacy team regarding workflow and operational priorities.
· Actively contribute to a process of continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Excellent Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and M365 Suite
● Excellent customer service skills and high level of professionalism and initiative
● Strong written, verbal, and computer skills are required
● Deadline-oriented, strong prioritization skills, and ability to perform repetitive tasks
● Able to lift up to 50 lbs
EDUCATION
● Highschool diploma or equivalent
WORKING CONDITIONS:
● Primarily office-based role in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
● Requires manual dexterity and attention to detail when performing computer and documentation work
