Description:
The Manager, Systems and IT reports directly to the Director of Finance, Administration and Systems in Spaces & Experiences (S&E) and manages key aspects of the strategic planning, design, development, implementation and ongoing releases of major S&E systems initiatives to ensure that the work achieves the specified outcomes. The Manager is also responsible for the delivery of IT support services across the portfolio through the direct management of IT staff. The role leads information security initiatives in alignment and collaboration with institutional offices. The Manager defines, implements and improves service and product delivery processes and practices, across Spaces & Experiences, with sound service, compliance, risk and security focus as well as ongoing client relationship management.
The incumbent contributes to the development and refinement of the S&E systems strategic plan and systems architecture; evaluates and improves IT Service Management and vendor management; evaluates proposals; contributes to the development of departmental standards and best practices, and recommends changes to improve service, product lifecycles and technical delivery. The incumbent also advises on the applicability of new techniques, technologies and developments that may aid in revenue generation, or in increasing productivity and efficiency across S&E.
The Manager is also responsible for directly managing business unit and S&E-wide systems projects and is the lead representative for S&E on institutional projects. This includes developing/guiding the development of project plans, assigning and monitoring resources, acting as a mentor on product delivery matters for team members and working with external vendors. The incumbent is responsible for determining delivery scope and budget, defining deliverables and identifying risks and issues. The incumbent is responsible for facilitating and maintaining positive relationships with team members, internal stakeholders and vendors.
Qualifications
Education
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline, or an acceptable equivalent combination or education and experience.
- Recognized certification in project management (PMP, PgMP, PfMP, CAPM) and business analysis experience is required.
- ITIL and Lean Six Sigma certifications are an asset.
Experience
- Seven (7) years of direct related and progressive work experience with technical skills in the field of computer systems, management, gathering and interpreting user requirements and system design.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, technology deployment, systems implementation and senior business analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in guiding teams, influencing key players in the field of IT, and managing diversely skilled staff.
