Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Microbiology Analyst - Level 1 to join our team in Mississauga, Canada. In this position, you will play a crucial role in conducting microbiological analyses and supporting our laboratory operations.
Perform various microbiological tests and analyses on samples using standard laboratory techniques
Prepare culture media, reagents, and other materials required for microbiological testing
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory activities and test results
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality
Assist in the development and optimization of microbiological testing methods
Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and organized laboratory environment
Adhere to all safety protocols and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines
Participate in data analysis and interpretation of test results
Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation for internal and external use
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field
2-5 years of experience in microbiology or a related field (internships or academic research experience is valuable)
Proficiency in microbiology laboratory techniques, including aseptic techniques and microscopy
Proficiency with the following instruments: autoclave, incubator, water bath, biohazard hood, filtration apparatus, balance, pH meter
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently and maintain organized records
Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis
Knowledge of microbiology principles and practices
Understanding of quality control procedures in microbiology
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and methodologies
