Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Non-Ferrous Receiver to join our non-ferrous metals department at our Sainte-Sophie site. You will play a crucial role in supporting the overall operations of our facility. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a strong work ethic.
What you will be responsible for:
Inspect, sort, and separate different ferrous materials, removing all non-recyclable components
Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to move materials within the facility
Operate a front loader to safely receive and unload customer materials, including moving materials around the yard
Assist in processing metal through cutting, shearing, and shredding equipment to prepare for further processing
Maintain accurate inventory and grading records using phones or tablets
Follow all safety guidelines and protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment
Provide excellent customer service while working with members of the public
Qualifications
To join our team:
You have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a laborer or receiver in an industrial environment (an asset)
You have experience in metal recycling (an asset)
You are in good physical condition and capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions
You can handle a fast-paced work environment, adapt to changing priorities, and perform well under pressure
You have 1–2 years of experience operating a forklift (an asset)
You are detail-oriented and enjoy repetitive work
You are reliable, responsible, resourceful, punctual, and diligent
You are capable of working in a noisy and dusty environment
You have knowledge of metals (an asset)
You enjoy teamwork and can also work independently
You are willing to learn how to operate heavy equipment such as a front loader
You are conscientious about workplace health and safety
You are comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (mask, earplugs, helmet, gloves, etc.)
