The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University.
The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution.
In addition to providing wage-based service staff positions for students wanting employment, the AMS seeks to support the Society's broader objectives through the provisioning of a high quality, relevant range of student funded services, that provide a wide range of employment opportunities and meaningful out-of-classroom learning and skill acquisition experiences for students.
JOB SUMMARY
The Case Manager is to be responsible for the NAM cases, delegating them to the Judicial Affairs Deputies, the training of deputies and overseeing the review of NAM policy. The Judicial Case Manager is responsible for maintaining a positive relationship with the Student Conduct Office and the Human Rights Office.
Please note that this position is not open to applicants from First Year. Successful applicants must be in their third or fourth year for the duration of the time they hold the position.
Hours: 15 hours/week
JOB DUTIES
Responsible for investigating and upholding the pillars of the Non-Academic Misconduct system when assigned by the Student Conduct Office.
Serve as the main point of contact between respondents and the NAM system following a Judicial Committee hearing
Inform respondents of any sanctions issued by the Judicial Committee, as well as the date by which the sanctions must be completed
Track the completion of sanctions by respondents
Oversee a team of Judicial Affairs Deputies
Ensure all sanctions are executed
Refer cases for investigation to the Judicial Affairs Deputies and advise the deputies on cases.
Investigate any cases that occur at the end of the previous school year and during the summer months, or those which otherwise cannot be delegated to a deputy
Conduct a thorough review of Non-Academic Misconduct in relation to the Constitution, policy and forms, and recommend amendments accordingly
Manage projects as delegated by the Secretariat
