Gaudenzia's Mission: Gaudenzia's Mission is to promote long-term recovery by
providing comprehensive treatment and support to people with substance use
disorder, co-occurring mental health disorders, and related conditions,
regardless of individual circumstances.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Education and training: GED or High School Diploma and successful completion
of Pennsylvania Certification Board training for Certified Recovery Specialist.
- Experience at least 12 months of volunteer service or related employment.
- No substitutions for education or training.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to express relevant personnel recovery experience in a clear and
effective manner.
- Must be able to travel to programs, service and appointments independently.
- Must conduct self in a manner that is conducive to growth, learning, and
independence
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Must be knowledgeable of the services and regulations pertaining to recovery
from co-occurring disorders and confidentiality
- Must be able to function as a team member.
- Must possess the ability to develop positive, ethical therapeutic
relationships with individual, promoting their personal growth while maintaining
their dignity.
Your responsibilities in this role may include:
- Act as the first point of contact for person’s seeking substance abuse
treatment
- Provide hope and encouragement needed for the client in early stages of
recovery
- Respond to consults for brief assessment of clients experiencing substance
use disorder in Lower Bucks Hospital
- Consult will be received verbally, via call or text on designated BCARES
Cell Phone
- Response time for onsite CRS is 15 minutes, on call off site is within 30
minutes
- Build rapport with clients to provide person-centered and trauma informed
support during their stay in the hospital
- Complete brief assessment and all paperwork required according to Bucks
County Drug and Alcohol Commission
- Reinforce the process the recovering person has learned for identifying
weaknesses such as negative self-talk, while also assisting the recovering
person with identifying his or her own strengths, needs, abilities, and
preferences
- Assist the person in recovery in articulating of their personal recovery
goals
- Assist the recovering person in the development of their aftercare
(wellness recovery) plan
- Provide resources for the recovering person about community and natural
supports and how to utilize these in the recovery process
- Promote empowerment skills through self-advocacy and stigma-busting tools
- Advocate for effective recovery-based services
- Attend mandatory Case Management meetings to receive new referrals, discuss
current clients’ medical clearance and referral status
- Work collaboratively with Gaudenzia HelpLine and program for assessment and
admission to inpatient levels of care
- Become a referral source and act as a liaison with established 12 step and
other identified community support groups
- Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies
- Teach and utilize problem solving techniques and coping skills
- Document in MyAvatar all BCARES documentation for every encounter
- Document plans and interventions collaboratively with recovering person
