Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Plant Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the regular production activities at the Calgary facility while maintaining production standards. This position leads the Production Team ensuring attainment of key performance indicators for quality, cost, safety, regulatory compliance, environment, and customer service.
Key Accountabilities:
Demonstrates leadership with oversight of production supervisors and hourly employees to ensure consistent quality of work;
Oversees production operations assuring quality and adherence to production specifications to meet customer specifications and business objectives;
Accountable to achieve the assigned business metrics including yield, labour efficiency, sanitation and overhead expenses;
Accountable for a safe working environment, focusing on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization;
Ensure compliance to all OHS and environmental, regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of non-compliance issues;
Monitors effective employee relations practices throughout the plant and ensures the correct interpretation and administration of the collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements:
A degree in business administration or alternate related field and/ or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the meat processing industry or operations management, demonstrating increasing responsibility and success in various roles;
Demonstrated people management and development capability and proven success in leading and inspiring teams to excel;
Knowledge of computer applications, including MS Office suite.
