IMCO is looking for an experienced investment professional to join its Global Infrastructure team IMCO is seeking a Principal to play a leadership role in the Global Infrastructure team with a focus on supporting the execution of the Energy & Utilities strategy, and rotation of investments in the Global Infrastructure portfolio. The Principal will play a key role in the construction of the Global Infrastructure portfolio and will be responsible for leading the execution of transactions (buyside and sellside) while overseeing and coaching junior members of the team. The Principal will also monitor portfolio investments through engagement with company management, co-shareholders and other stakeholders, with responsibility for the implementation of asset management initiatives. The Principal will leverage their industry network and look to deepen relationships with key market participants to support origination activities and build IMCO’s brand presence. The primary responsibilities for this position include: i) leading all execution aspects for new investments; ii) overseeing the active asset management and monitoring of investments; and iii) overseeing and coaching deal team members. As a Principal in the Global Infrastructure team you will hold a critical leadership role and will be expected to help drive positive outcomes across all aspects of the investment lifecycle, including: New Investments Leading comprehensive thematic research to support the development of investment strategies aligned with the Global Infrastructure mandate, with a focus on the Energy & Utilities sectors Leading the analysis, due diligence and evaluation of potential investment opportunities Preparing well though through internal recommendation materials for presentation to senior staff and investment committees Rotation of Investments Supporting the development of a framework to assess hold vs. sell decisions pertaining to investments in the Global Infrastructure portfolio Working with investment leads to prepare for divestment of investments including sell-side preparation and relevant stakeholder engagement Running processes for the divestment of investments, including co-ordination with advisers, and engagement and negotiations with counterparties Active Asset Management Participating in the active asset management and monitoring of investments, including ongoing assessment of fair market value of the portfolio investments Establishing, maintaining and enhancing existing working relationships with key stakeholders, including portfolio company management, co-shareholders, and internal partners Preparing investment performance commentaries for internal and external distribution including monthly and quarterly meetings, board meetings, and client reporting as well as recurring corporate financial reporting Representing IMCO Engaging with potential investment partners, corporates, and advisors as well as participating in relevant industry events to represent IMCO and build IMCO’s brand presence Ensuring that all investment / asset management activities and stakeholder engagement reflect IMCO’s values and its focus on diversity and inclusion, and sustainability Providing oversight, motivation and mentorship to junior team members, including training and development What do you need to succeed? Undergraduate degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience in infrastructure methodologies is required Graduate level degree (e.g. Master of Business, Finance or Accounting) or a relevant professional designation (i.e., CFA, CAIA, AACI) is an asset 8 – 10 years of experience in the infrastructure investment market with significant transaction experience in infrastructure investments, corporate M&A or advisory; utility and/or energy sector specific experience is an asset Proven experience leading successful deals, managing business relationships and engaging with company management Deep understanding of the infrastructure landscape and strong interest in furthering knowledge of the industry Global network of investors and advisors active in the infrastructure sector Knowledge of investment structuring, financing and legal documentation Strong grasp of risk management principles and practices Exceptional written communication skills required to report complex information (e.g. regular performance reports, annual due diligence reviews, investment recommendations) in a clear, concise manner Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills required to exchange complex information and to present information, as well to build key working relationships Ability to cultivate partnerships and work collaboratively in a team environment, and with internal and external resources We thank all applicants, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
