Job Description
We have an opportunity available for a Labourer (Janitor) on the day shift. Duties for this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Sweep, mop, vacuum floors and use floor cleaning equipment in the shop including welding area and walkways to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Remove metal dust and debris generated from welding and preparation areas.
Empty general and scrap metal waste bin and dispose of waste in accordance with company policies.
Clean locker rooms, lunch room including appliances and counters.
Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and replenishing supplies
Quickly respond to and clean up non hazardous spills (e.g. water, oil and other leaks, if any.)
Maintain cleanliness of entrances, exits and outdoor areas near the shop including yard and parking lot.
Follow cleaning schedules and checklists for daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
Report any safety hazards, damage or required repairs to supervisors
Handle cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Ensure proper storage and restock inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements, and time management in the performance of daily duties
Comply with all legislated and Company’ Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Lean policies, procedures and programs
Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Position will require the ability to:
work in an environment with elevated noise, smoke and fumes exposure.
Familiarity with industrial cleaning facilities.
Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand /walk for extended periods of time.
Additional Information
Work environment:
Working safely is a condition of employment at Canam. The role involves working in plant environment and constant exposure to moving parts. Safety PPE (personal protective equipment) must be worn while onsite (steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc.).
