Role description:
We are seeking an intermediate Mechanical Process Engineer with engineering and/or industrial or process systems design, preferably in the Automotive sector or in a role with exposure to facilities design.
Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening public places that bring people together.

Role accountabilities:
Review client and/or project process, production and/or industrial systems requirements and develop a comprehensive set of data sheets outlining integration requirements for buildings and facilities systems.
Prepare concept designs, layouts, and Revit models and/or AutoCAD drawings to communicate design intent.
Size and select equipment (eg: chillers, cooling towers, compressed air systems, air handling systems, heating systems, ventilation systems, etc) to support process and production equipment requirements.
Perform heating and cooling load calculations and assist with energy modeling and HVAC system coordination.
Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling alongside multidisciplinary teams.
Review drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure quality and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, conducting site reviews, and providing direction to installing trades for process and industrial systems equipment.
Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure design excellence and consistency across deliverables.
Contribute to sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives, including LEED and other green building standards.
Engage with clients, contractors, and team members to maintain strong professional relationships and ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience:
At minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineer, Process Engineering or an equivalent Science/Technology program from an accredited institution.
7+ years of relevant experience in a relevant field of engineering and/or industrial or process systems design, preferably in the Automotive sector or in a role with exposure to facilities design. Experience with HVAC, fire protection and/or plumbing buildings systems design and mechanical engineering would be considered an asset.
Registered (or eligible to register) as an EIT or P.Eng. with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). A professional accreditation/P.Eng in another Canadian province would be considered an asset.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP is required; experience with 3D design tools (ACC, BIM360) and MicroStation is an asset.
Solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, as well as applicable codes (Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, Plumbing Code, NFPA, ASHRAE) would be considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of TSSA Fuel & Pressure Vessel codes and industrial ventilation along with expertise in relevant ASME and CSA codes is a must.
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
Experience with projects in the across Canada is a must, while exposure to projects on a global scale would be considered an asset.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Strong knowledge of industrial systems designs, such as process ventilation, compressed air, lubrication, and fueling systems. Knowledge of automotive and/or manufacturing processes, along with other industrial processes or systems (eg: heavy crane design, rail sanding systems, etc) would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of process controls systems and/or PLC based controller logic and system architecture would be considered an asset.
Experience with Building Automation Systems and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisitions (SCADA) systems would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of mechanical buildings systems designs is critical as the successful candidate will be expected to interact closely with the mechanical design team providing input, feedback and direction on process system integration.
