Your opportunity:
The Senior Social Media Strategist will report to the Director, Strategic Communications and work as part of a five-person strategic communications team. This social media professional will bring deep expertise and offer dedicated support to improve outcomes on all of the Rotman School’s central social media channels, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky and YouTube. Rotman’s social channels are key to our efforts to recruit students across all graduate programs, attract the business community to our public events and executive programs,engage alumni, donors, media and partners and share faculty insights from our Rotman Management magazine and Rotman Insights Hub,
At Rotman, there are marketers and communicators across many areas who currently create content and post to our varied channels. This role will consult widely and develop a social media strategy to capitalize on Rotman’s competitive advantages, rich content and diverse content creators. This role will also work closely with other social media experts across University of Toronto to get ideas, share expertise and collectively brand-build.
Rotman wants to continue to benefit from all the varied content creators and their subject matter expertise while putting best practice in place. The role will improveour posting processes (formats, frequency, timing, tagging, etc.) and our monitoring and response protocols to ultimately improve our results. This role will manage an integrated content calendar and vet content from multiple contributors before posting to ensure content and branding standards are met and to address accessibility and inclusivity standards.
To help Rotman innovate, this role will recommend content ideas to social media content creators and will also develop original posts and campaigns to address strategic priorities This role will be responsible for monitoring all social media analytics, liaising with our social media monitoring vendor, refining all reporting and reviewing results with content creators to continue to increase impact. This role will also closely monitor what other organizations are doing, advise on trends and recommend ways Rotman could innovate and experiment, in our existing channels and/or by exploring emerging channels.
Together with the Director, Strategic Communications, the Senior Social Media Strategist will host a regular social media Community of Practice, where they advise content creators from other departments on best practices and platform use, review results, and where all content creators share ideas and successes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing social media campaigns
- Producing promotional and outreach materials
- Tracking and monitoring social media analytics
- Advising clients on social media strategies and planning activities.
- Advising on strategies to maximize social media presence and growth.
- Advising on social media trends and platforms to enhance digital communication strategies.
- Keeping well-informed on social media trends, technologies and best practices.
- Developing and implementing marketing plans to support business development and revenue-generating strategies and/or activities.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years of social media experience, with a solid portfolio indicating proven ability to produce engaging organic social media content.
- Proven experience in developing social media content for a wide variety of platforms.
- Proven experience with using social media analytics to measure effectiveness, improve results and inform future strategy
- Experience with social media monitoring platforms
- Experience with paid social media campaigns, including audience targeting, budgeting and performance tracking to amplify high-impact content
- Strong familiarity with current global business issues and interest in varied topics is preferred
- A working knowledge of key issues in higher education is desirable
Assets (Nonessential):
- Experience with audio and video editing software an asset.
- Knowledge of the University environment or experience working in a business school would be helpful, but is not essential.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 13 -- $86,340. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $110,415. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
