The opportunity:
The Supervisor of Cleaning and Maintenance is responsible for maintaining the facility in ‘as new’ condition by ensuring a high standard of cleaning and general maintenance.
In this role, you will:
Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada.
Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership, facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.
Maintain a high level of cleaning and general maintenance in the Membership Centre at all times as per local and YMCA SAM Standards, and respond to cleaning and maintenance requests immediately to ensure uninterrupted service.
Use approved cleaning audit measurement tools, monitor all areas of the membership centre for quality, consistency, and compliance to YMCA SAM Cleaning Standards.
Communicate all system malfunctions, mechanical deficiencies and service disruptions to the GM immediately.
Develop a departmental operating budget in cooperation with the General Manager and Asset Development Team. Monitor the fiscal health of the department flagging significant variances in a timely manner. Take appropriate action to rectify any significant variances. Achieve the annual budget contribution as approved by the Board.
Recruit, train, schedule and evaluate an exceptional team of staff and volunteers.
Ensure that all staff has the necessary qualifications as per Health Regulations and maintain a copy of all staff qualifications.
Conduct regular in-service development for cleaning staff concentrating on health and safety procedures, effective cleaning practices and exceptional SAM cleaning standards.
Develop and adhere to strict cleaning and maintenance standards and schedules in response to the needs of members.
Follow all regulations as defined by the Health Department, and other governing bodies related to facility operations, cleaning and maintenance.
Maintain all Health and Safety requirements, including but not limited to WHMIS, Employee Health and Safety, etc. Ensure safety and security of YMCA staff and members while on duty.
Provide support to the other departments and building coverage as required as required.
Work in concert with your fellow supervisors to promote consistency in service delivery and communication and be an active contributing participant on the centre senior staff team.
Maintain a high level of retention among qualified, high performing cleaning staff and volunteers through ongoing coaching, development and mentoring.
Adhere to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
You bring:
College Diploma preferred
Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, standards and practices
Health and Safety Certification
Certified Pool Operators Certificate
2 years Supervisory Experience
Current CPR & First Aid
Ability to work flexible hours based on client needs
Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including:
AODA Training
Health & Safety Awareness Training
Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) Training
PCI Compliance
WHMIS
Child Protection Training
