Under the direction of the Regional Director, Human Resources, this position is responsible for the delivery of effective Human Resources services and for the oversight and coordination of Human Resources programs. The Senior Human Resources Business Partner oversees the full-cycle recruitment, onboarding and leave management processes. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Key Accountabilities
Advises managers on employment law, collective agreement principles and interpretation, and people issues; answers questions related to Human Resources policies and provides advice to team members
Main contact with Union Staff Rep to resolve grievances
Supports recruitment, development and retention of team members in the organization
Participates in the implementation of organizational design and career development initiatives; coaches managers on conducting effective career development discussions and succession planning
Coordinates team members' information with Total Rewards and Payroll teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of the employment agreement, and acts as the main point of contact for team members to resolve any related questions
Provides consultation on the interpretation and application of Human Resources policies and procedures to all levels of management and team members within GCCV
Manages Occupational Health & Safety, attendance, on-site orientation and other programs as required
Manages Leave of Absence files (including medical leaves, long term disability, WorkSafe BC, ICBC, bereavement, maternity and other leaves) including return to work program and processes
Provides conflict and dispute resolution and leads investigations related to team member relations matters
Prepares quarterly Human Resources management reports (related to legal activities, organization charts, status on safety, etc.) for sending to Corporate
Supports and coaches managers through termination processes; prepares voluntary and involuntary termination paperwork in accordance with Company policy and applicable legislation; may participate in termination meetings
Supports and implements Human Resources strategic plans as directed
Acts as point of contact for internal and external auditors to review and confirm compliance with regulations and policies
Actively participates and plays a lead role on Great Canadian Committee
May participate in the implementation and delivery of training and development initiatives for team members
Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders, including senior management, management and individual contributor team members
Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Qualifications
Post Secondary education in Human Resources or related field, or a suitable combination of education and experience
Minimum 4 years of experience in a professional level Human Resources role
Experience in a unionized setting an asset
Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service-oriented communication
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
Proven track record of responsiveness and meeting deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
Computer literacy in MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint; Human Resources Information systems such as JD Edwards and Applicant Tracking systems experience an asset
Ability to work with all levels throughout the organization and maintain highly confidential information
Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
