We’re seeking a Lead QA Engineer to elevate our testing strategy and ensure every release meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability. You’ll be a key part of our engineering leadership, guiding QA best practices across teams and shaping how we build and deliver exceptional experiences.

What you bring to the role:
7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and Testing, with at least 2+ years in a lead or managerial capacity.
Proven success designing and implementing test automation frameworks in modern CI/CD environments.
Expertise in both manual and automated testing across multiple platforms (web, API, mobile).
Strong proficiency in modern automation tools (Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Postman, JMeter, etc.).
Solid grasp of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and defect management tools (Jira, TestRail, etc.).
Excellent communication and leadership skills — able to influence without authority and drive alignment across teams.
Passion for outdoor adventure and alignment with Backcountry’s brand ethos is a major plus.

Lead QA Strategy & Execution: Own the end-to-end testing lifecycle across Backcountry’s web, mobile, and platform systems. Define scalable QA frameworks, automation strategies, and release validation standards.

Drive Automation & CI/CD Excellence: Champion automation within our development pipelines. Expand coverage through modern tools and frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Appium).
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with product managers, developers, and DevOps to integrate QA early in the SDLC, ensuring rapid and reliable deployments.
Monitor & Optimize Quality Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators for product quality, defect density, test coverage, and release reliability.
Innovate & Future-Proof: Stay ahead of emerging QA methodologies (AI-driven testing, shift-left, performance engineering) to continually improve efficiency and accuracy.
