Job Description: The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge & skills gained through additional education and experience specializing in pediatrics. The PNP blends an in-depth knowledge of advanced health assessment & diagnosis, therapeutic management with the legal authority & autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals & perform specific procedures in the management & treatment of common acute pediatric illnesses & stable chronic conditions. The PNP practices within a framework of evidence-based practice, health promotion, & disease & injury prevention. The practice involves building partnerships with individuals/families, & communities, including supporting inter-professional collaboration & continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects. The PNP will be based out of the Pediatric Inpatient Department but will also function in outpatient & community settings.

Experience 5 years General Nursing Experience Three (3) full-time years recent experience working in a pediatric area Education Master's Degree in Nursing, with Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Designation Licenses Valid Class 5 driver's license Other Education and Training Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HCP Certificate (CPR-HCP) Competencies Advanced - Conflict resolution skills Knowledge and Abilities Demonstrates ability to implement coordinated, comprehensive care. Knowledge of quality of life care with medical complexity Knowledge in complex pediatric illnesses and chronic conditions Demonstrates capacity for visioning, goal setting and utilizing change theory Adaptability for competing/changing patient priorities, situations, environment Demonstrates capacity to plan, implement and evaluate multiple assessments Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care Demonstrates communication verbal/nonverbal to build relationships Demonstrates leadership, confidence and autonomy in the RN(NP) role Knowledge in leadership strategies Diagnostic intervention skills working to the scope of practice of RN (NP) role Knowledge in research processes and program evaluation Health assessment skills working to the scope of practice of the RN (NP) role Knowledge of palliative care and end of life care strategies Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment in acute/ambulatory care Pharmacotherapeutic intervention skills to the scope of practice of RN (NP) role Ability to initiate and exercise critical thinking and decision-making Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development Therapeutic intervention skills working to the scope of practice of RN (NP) role Ability to handle difficult situations resulting in productive outcomes Other Information Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) May be eligible for Recruitment and/or Retention Incentives For more information on the city of Saskatoon please visit https://www.saskatoon.ca/ Ability to travel when required
