About the Role: Reporting to the Director, Environmental Sustainability Research Centre (ESRC) and the Chair, Department of Geography and Tourism Studies (DGTS), the Centre Administrator spends the majority of their time leading and supervising all administrative responsibilities for the ESRC aligned with Brock's strategic outlook. This includes the administration of the ESRC and its academic programs, budgetary management of operating and project accounts, coordinating and expanding community partnerships, contributing to program recruitment, admissions, procedure and policy implementation, experiential education, and other activities that support student success, and continuously seeking ways to enhance the effectiveness of Centre communications to all audiences. A small proportion of their time will provide administrative support towards the preparation of a program proposal brief for an interdisciplinary undergraduate program and the development of an academic restructure proposal, including the governance structure for a new School focused on the environment and sustainability. The Centre Administrator will: Participate in departmental strategic planning, including administrating the ESRC annual budget process; Facilitate the recruitment and selection of Contract Instructors, Teaching Assistants (TAs), and Marker-Grader positions, following collective agreements; Support the Chair with updating policies, procedures, and guidelines; Administrative duties including managing day-to day monitoring and communication of the ESRC, emails, preparing files and agendas, and scheduling, attending and recording minutes of meetings; Assist with experiential education modules within undergraduate and graduate course offerings; Align and manage branding, marketing, and communication across all ESRC programming and projects; Coordinate community projects and partnerships to support impactful research through transdisciplinary, community-engaged approaches; Coordinate and organize meetings, conferences, and events; Support administrative aspects of preparing the program proposal brief for the Bachelor of Environmental Science and Sustainability (BESS) program as needed; Support administrative aspects of preparing the proposal to restructure between the ESRC and DGTS as needed. Key Skills and Experience: A graduate degree in a relevant discipline with a demonstrated research component, or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Experience in project management and/or coordination role, with proven success in collaborative environments through effective teamwork and business administration; Familiarity with Brock University’s administrative databases, systems, and institutional networks; Proven skills in developing approaches to project management and strategic partnership initiatives, as well as executing operational plans and design; Familiar with knowledge mobilization and educational strategies to translate and communicate research findings; Ability to develop and successfully execute comprehensive marketing campaigns; Knowledge and experience with Adobe Suite, Microsoft, and project management software; Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community; Advanced verbal and written communication skills, and excellent customer service skills with the ability to build relationships; Ability to support efforts to generate program revenues and create a culture of program excellence; Advanced problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; Ability to think strategically and contributes new solutions that support emerging departmental needs. Preferred or Asset Skills: A post-graduate degree or relevant work experience on research and community-based projects is preferred; Experience in marketing; and Experience in partnership management and customer service.
