Job Type: Permanent THE POSITION The Asset Optimization Engineer is responsible for driving asset performance, reliability, and profitability. This role is accountable for identifying and executing optimization opportunities, and ensuring that assets run safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. In addition, the Asset Optimization Engineer serves as the key liaison with Business Development, leading engineering support for Stage 0 project ideation, feasibility evaluation, and recommendation for cancellation or progression. The role also provides critical engineering input during the Pre-FEED and FEED stages of growth projects, ensuring alignment with asset capabilities, operational requirements and long-term business objectives. By bridging engineering, operations, maintenance, and commercial teams, the Asset Optimization Engineer ensures that optimization efforts and growth opportunities are aligned with business objectives and asset capabilities. RESPONSIBILITIES Optimize asset performance through proactive technical monitoring, data analytics, and collaboration with operations, maintenance and reliability teams. Collaborate cross-functionally with BD, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on optimization projects. Align optimization efforts with business objectives and asset profitability. Analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies, monitor performance trends, and recommend improvements. Work closely with Process Engineering to develop and implement process enhancements to asset performance and profitability. Work closely with Maintenance and Reliability teams to support AMR reliability programs, maintenance strategies and contribute to long-term planning for asset integrity, debottlenecking and performance improvement. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented solutions and make necessary adjustments. Develop and steward key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor asset performance, track efficiency gains and support continuous improvement initiatives. Utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to support decision-making processes. Prepare and present reports on asset performance and optimization initiatives. Support operational troubleshooting and participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures and system issues to improve reliability and reduce downtime. Ensure seamless integration of optimization strategies with safety, reliability, and maintenance programs. Engage with Business Development to align asset strategies with commercial and growth objectives by leveraging understanding of asset capabilities, constraints and optimization opportunities. Participate in project commissioning and support commissioning and start-up activities for growth projects. Ensure new equipment is integrated into the Process Technical Monitoring framework. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in asset optimization technologies, including tools for health monitoring to proactively enhance asset reliability and performance. Define and refine the role of Asset Optimization Engineer, ensuring clarity in expectations and responsibilities. Provide turnaround and outage support as required. Assist in training and mentoring junior engineers and operations by sharing process best practices, operational insights and technical knowledge. QUALIFICATIONS Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent); P. Eng. designation in Alberta required. 7+ years of experience in asset optimization, operations engineering, reliability engineering, or process engineering within the energy sector. Strong knowledge of process systems, reliability principles, and performance optimization methodologies. Proven ability to identify and implement optimization strategies in complex operating environments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams. Comfortable working in both office and field settings, with a proactive, self-starter mindset. Must be located within a reasonable commuting distance of a Keyera operating facility in the Drayton Valley, Rocky Mountain House, and Rimbey area. The position will be field based.
