POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for custodial and maintenance activities for air terminal building grounds, street landscaping areas, equipment and facilities. This position provides maintenance support to the Building Maintenance Technician for the terminal and other outbuildings with a focus on repair and maintenance of ceilings, walls, floors, furnishings, and completing general repairs.
JOB DUTIES:
Maintains grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property, performing any combination of following tasks:
Cut lawns, using hand mower or power mower.
Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls, using clippers, weed cutters, and edging tools.
Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
Rakes and bags leaves, using rakes or other automated equipment.
Cleans grounds and removes litter, using spiked stick or broom or another device.
Shovels snow from walks and driveways and emergency building exits.
Spread deicing compounds on public passageways and AB Apron areas to prevent ice buildup.
Responsible for 12/7 airside sow removal from ATB to end of bridges including area surrounding gated aircraft.
Responsible for keeping apron areas clear.
Responsible to clear bridge stairs and doorways and replenishment of chemical stored inside bridge doors.
Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, using gardening tools.
Waters lawn and shrubs, using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler system.
May repair fences, gates, walls, and walks, using carpentry and masonry tools.
May perform ground maintenance duties, using tractor equipped with attachments, such as mowers, lime or fertilizer spreaders, lawn roller, and snow removal equipment.
May sharpen tools, such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears, using file or knife sharpener.
May make minor repairs on equipment, such as lawn mower, spreader, and snow removal equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
Empty trash receptacles in designated areas such as in front of ATB and various parking lots
Occasional floor cleaning in a multi-story parking facility using automated sweepers, hand brooms, etc.
Comply with the OHS program and industry regulations
Assists with the repair and installation of office and restroom furnishings
Assists with repairs to drywall and ceiling tile as necessary
Assists with the preparation and painting of walls and ceilings in public and office spaces
Installs and removes promotional signage
Assists with the assembly of office furniture and common use furniture
OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school
Airport Vehicle Operators Permit DA (Apron only)
Valid class 5 motor vehicle license
Two years of experience as a laborer, farmer, gardener, florist helper, groundskeeper, or similar work involving general laborer duties which may include the planting and maintenance of vegetation, landscaping duties, nursery inspections, or pesticide applications.
