About you and this role: Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Site Logistics Shift Coordinator located in Fort Saskatchewan (AB, CAN). The Shift Coordinator acts as an on-shift team leader, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others. The Shift Coordinator oversees the daily activities of operational employees including helping set priorities for the team to ensure completion of essential tasks. As a leader, they foster a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong safety focus that embraces inclusion, diversity, innovation, sustainability, continuous improvement, and empowerment. Requires skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, and technical expertise within an operational process. The Shift Coordinator is held accountable for the on-shift safety performance of the operating facilities. They understand the plant/department strategy, value added activities, and day to day operations. The Shift Coordinator also serves as the unit’s on-shift Immediate Response Leader. Responsibilities: Acts as technical coach and mentor for team members. Provides support for training by sharing experiences, technical skills, and knowledge for team members with less experience. Ensures compliance with Dow policies and standards. Manages and optimizes work related tasks within the crew. Drives focus and proper use of operating discipline, work processes/integration, and flexibility. Coordinates and supports completion of work in alignment with other departments such as Maintenance, Lab, Quality. Drives a strong personal safety and process safety behaviors to achieve EH&S goals and ensure compliance with regulatory and permit requirements. Provides motivation, explanation, and context to the crew and drives a facility and safety performance (eg: housekeeping, quality). Uses technical expertise to help resolve emergencies or plant upsets with other team members. Ensures that process issues are documented and communicated to Run Plant and Technical Advisor as required, and ensures that additional technical expertise is sought when appropriate (TA’s, RPE, PCE) Issues safe work permit in all areas Uses technical skills and knowledge to assist Improve Engineers with project information. Knows the business model and strategy for facility. Explains to operations how the plant fits into the business and corporation. Works with plant and TES resources. Monitors progress to ensure maintenance activities are completed as planned. Acts as an immediate response leader in the event of an emergency. Ensures that the immediate response process is followed. Responsible for reporting any emergency at site. Participates in key isolation of energy source activities. A diploma in Power, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering Technology (or related field) OR a Power Engineer (3rd/4th class) certificate is preferred.
