We are seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager to provide strategic, technical decision-making support for our large and growing nationwide fleet of over 600 assets, including pickups, trailers, hydrovacs, directional drills, aerial trucks, and specialized construction equipment. In this role, you'll apply well-rounded mechanical knowledge across diverse equipment types while balancing lifecycle considerations with operational needs.
As a key member of the Fleet Department, you'll collaborate closely with our fleet management partner (Holman), vendors, and internal operations teams to maintain an optimal balance of cost, reliability, and safety.

Heavy trucks (hydrovacs, picker trucks, etc.)
Directional drills and vibratory plows
Aerial bucket and auger trucks
Construction trailers
Support and construction equipment
Miscellaneous assets (forklifts, ATVs, etc.)
Key Responsibilities
Validate estimates, balance lifecycle status with operational needs, track warranty coverage, and approve or decline work accordingly. Escalate to Fleet Director or Operations Management based on established parameters.
Work with Operations/Construction Managers and PME (Powered Mobile Equipment) Coordinators to plan repairs around scheduled maintenance and minimize unplanned downtime.
Monitor and report on maintenance expenditures. Ensure warranty coverage is optimized, flag budget overruns, and track year-to-date and lifetime costs.
Track unscheduled downtime and identify chronic problem assets and/or equipment deficiencies.
Ensure PM schedules, regulatory inspections, and certifications are maintained and effectively forecasted.
Track cost-per-km/hour and downtime to identify candidates for retirement, rebuild, or replacement. Support quarterly forecasts and annual capital budget preparations.
Monitor and report on scheduled maintenance, reliability metrics, and cost KPIs.
Monitor quality and completion compliance. Validate repair proposals and review work order histories.
Provide weekly and monthly highlights to the Fleet Director and the Branch/Business Unit Leadership teams.
Ownership of routine maintenance approvals and repair decisions, escalating only when costs, downtime, or strategic impact exceed thresholds defined by the Fleet Director.
Qualifications
3+ years coordinating maintenance for mixed on-road/off-road fleets
Proven track record balancing repair budgets with field schedules in construction or utilities environments
Experience with ARI/Holman CMMS and Excel-level analytics
Valid driver's license
CMMS: ARI/Holman suite
Background in Telematics: Geotab or OEM feeds for real-time monitoring
Analytics: Reporting tools developed with Fleet Analyst and Fleet Director
Hydrovac or aerial truck experience
310T / Red Seal / ASE certification would be considered an asset
CVOR / MTO / NSC compliance knowledge
