Why You’ll Love This Role We are looking for an engineer to join the switching business unit product engineering team. You will work with our development team to bring OCS (optical circuit switch) products from design to volume production. Lumentum’s industry leading products are used throughout the world by Tier 1 network equipment vendors. You will work with a multidisciplinary R&D and process development team specializing in optical design, opto-mechanical design, MEMS, electronics, algorithms, firmware, test, and reliability. You will be involved in process transfer to our manufacturing site in Asia transferring the product to the on-site engineering team. What You’ll Be Doing Support transfer of product to our manufacturing site in Thailand. Plan capital deployment into production site. Support all aspects of ramping up production line. Troubleshoot product and yield issues. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to derive the most effective solutions to production, yield, cost and quality issues. Serve as technical interface between production and R&D engineering teams. Bill of materials management including working with supply chain and suppliers. This includes working with suppliers to ensure timely development of their associated custom parts and assemblies. Process flow optimization, DFM, PFMEA, and work instruction development and maintenance. What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Degree in engineering, engineering physics, physics or equivalent. Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to adhere to tight deadlines. Data analysis skills, e.g. familiarity with databases, statistical analysis and process control. Travel to Asia is required 4-6 times/yr. Preferred Qualifications Industrial engineering and lean manufacturing work experience. Experience with DOE, DFX, FMEA, and 8D analysis. Experience with statistical process control, and familiarity with JMP or Python. Experience with MEMS devices. Experience with production environment.
