The Manager, Specialized Lending Real Estate, reporting to the Director of Specialized Lending Real Estate, will oversee the stewardship of the bank’s Commercial Real Estate and Multi-unit Residential (MUR) mortgage portfolio. This role ensures compliance with delegated lending limits and the company’s credit risk appetite while managing account performance and mitigating risk. The successful candidate will lead acquisition and credit review of new MUR mortgages, support relationship development to diversify origination, and collaborate with the securitization desk for accurate onboarding. Position Responsibilities
Perform annual surveillance on all MUR mortgage files to assess debt service capacity and borrower compliance.
Review origination documents and approve or recommend approval of mortgages within policy limits and risk appetite.
Assess, recommend, and secure approvals for amendments to existing MUR mortgage terms and conditions.
Provide credit underwriting support for other commercial loan programs during non-peak periods.
Liaise with mortgage origination partners and coordinate purchase amounts with the treasury team.
Review, recommend or update credit policy and administrative procedures related to MUR mortgages.
Recommend policy limits to senior management and the board as appropriate.
Perform hand-off of purchased mortgages to the securitization desk for Canada Mortgage Bonds (CMB) program.
Ensure procedure documents related to origination and servicing of MUR mortgages are complete and current.
Assist in developing relationships with Manufacturers Life Insurance Company and other partners to diversify supply.
Provide reporting to management and the board on program activity and policy limits.
Support CMHC and auditors regarding compliance and approvals under delegated lending authorities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, or Finance.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience underwriting and managing insured Multi-Unit Residential mortgages with solid understanding of CMHC requirements.
5+ years’ experience in commercial real estate account management.
Thorough understanding of the financial services industry.
Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec
Proven ability to foster positive outcomes in adverse credit situations.
Experience collaborating across teams to strengthen risk-based culture.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.

Salary range is expected to be between
$80,700.00 CAD - $145,260.00 CAD
