Nature & Scope → Your Role at Roots
The Production Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations on the production floor, ensuring that all activities are executed smoothly and in accordance with the production plan. They serve as a link between the production team, supervisors, and management, helping to maintain a steady flow of materials, workers, and tasks. The role focuses on managing workflows, monitoring progress, and solving any issues that arise during production.
Key Responsibilities → How You’ll Make an Impact
Coordinate and Manage Production Activities:
Ensure adherence to the daily production schedule and adjust workflows as needed to address delays or unexpected issues (e.g., equipment failure, labor shortages).
Organize and assign tasks on the production floor to maximize efficiency and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
Communicate with supervisors and cross-functional teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and maintain alignment with operational goals.
Materials and Inventory Management:
Track material usage and inventory levels, ensuring availability for production needs.
Coordinate receiving, transferring, and maintaining accurate inventory records to support production demands.
Report shortages, overages, and delivery issues to management promptly.
Communication and Cross-Department Coordination
Serve as the primary liaison between production and other departments (e.g., warehouse, logistics, quality control, maintenance).
Provide regular status updates to management and relay schedule or process changes to production staff.
Issue Resolution and Equipment Maintenance
Act as the first point of contact for production-related issues, including delays, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns.
Collaborate with maintenance to ensure timely repairs and minimize downtime.
Safety and Compliance
Monitor the production floor for compliance with health and safety regulations.
Implement corrective actions for safety violations and participate in safety reviews, hazard assessments, and accident investigations.
Performance Tracking and Continuous Improvement
Collect and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, downtime, and quality metrics to identify improvement opportunities.\
Training and Workforce Development
Assist with onboarding, cross-training, and succession planning for production staff.
Ensure employees are updated on new procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
Quality Assurance
Coordinate with quality control to ensure products meet company standards.
Monitor adherence to quality procedures and report defects for immediate resolution.
Qualifications & Experience → The Skills You Bring
College diploma technical certificate in Operations, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related fields preferred.
2–4 years of experience in manufacturing or production operations.
Previous experience coordinating teams, materials, or workflows (preferably in apparel, leather goods, or consumer goods).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into clear business insights.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple functions.
Experience or interest in Lean/Continuous Improvement methodologies is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
