Job Overview:
Responsible for working with the business to develop the specifications for the packaging materials. The position will support the business on any capital and innovation projects as well as drive improvements for the business by optimizing the packaging structures based on customer and equipment needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide input to and contributes to the execution of the company’s long-term plan (LTP) within the Product Development department
Lead packaging development policies, and processes - including packaging materials optimization.
Responsible for driving the packaging sustainability goals
Identify potential materials to reduce EPR fees, increase recyclability and increase PCR content without jeopardizing quality or business continuity
Work with the cross departmental team as Subject Matter Expert for all packaging related technical topics (incl UW)
Lead the developments of all packaging formats and specifications
Responsible for ensuring supplier quality and addressing supplier non-conformance
Align developments with the packaging sustainability programs
Lead, coach and develop personnel including providing feedback and conducting formal evaluations, to ensure having the right resource skills, competencies and expertise to meet department and agreed-upon business objectives of the company
Responsible for managing and directing Jr. Packaging Developer and Packaging Developer
The Recipe for Success:
Engineering degree and completion of college diploma in Packaging Development
5 - 10 years previous experience in a packaging development role, including vendor
relations.
2 – 5 years experience in people management
Previous experience implementing change management, developing quality practices, and coordinating collaborative initiatives packaging, as well as development of sustainable packaging in the food industry. Technical applications relating to Packaging Engineering preferably bakery
