Unposting Date: 2025-12-19 11:59 PM Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster. Technology and Infrastructures (T&I) is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between. A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly-regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force. T&I is the team making it happen. This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines. Summary: We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our team and play an essential role in fostering a culture of strategic alignment, belonging, and meaningful connection for our employees. This role will be instrumental in designing, producing, and managing experiential engagement programs and strategic narratives, aligning the workforce’s daily experience with the organization’s transformation goals. Reporting to the Senior Director, Transformation, People & Engagement, you will spearhead strategic communications and engagement initiatives for Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) across our teams and projects to help us deliver on our priorities and achieve our objectives. You will elevate internal communications into a strategic function that blends strategic communications, transformation management, business reviews, and experiential event production. Specifically, you will partner with the Senior Director to establish the strategic vision for engagement, playing a crucial role in aligning business goals with T&I priorities and the broader Corporate strategy. You will be directly responsible for translating this vision into a concrete tactical plan, overseeing the execution of all engagement activities and the production of high-impact leadership and staff events. Furthermore, you will lead the communications portfolio and be responsible for the strategic planning of the department’s voice, managing both the narrative for complex organizational transformations and the rhythm of day-to-day communications. Acting with an internal consultant approach, you will advise the Management Executive Team on key actions and initiatives, ensuring that T&I has an engaged, informed, and inspired workforce, ready to achieve its objectives effectively and efficiently, contributing to a strong, positive, and human-centric organizational culture. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Alignment & Transformation Narrative Narrative Stewardship & Cultural Connection: Steward and animate the established T&I strategic narrative, ensuring it remains consistent yet dynamic as we evolve. You will focus on the human experience, designing initiatives that build culture and rally the entire workforce in an engaging and spirited way around our collective objectives. Transformation Confidence & Trust: Champion a narrative of transparency and positivity to navigate the organization through significant business evolution. You will advise and collaborate closely with leadership to ensure a constructive tone that inspires trust in the company and its vision, ensuring employees feel informed and confident throughout the transformation journey. Engagement Architecture & Integration: Design and oversee the comprehensive communications and engagement ecosystem that unifies the T&I identity. You will ensure the strategic vision is operationally embedded across the department, moving beyond simple "information sharing" to create a cohesive, aligned, and purpose-driven workforce. This includes but is not limited to the management/oversight of T&I’s internal channels of comms, e.g., Google Spaces, iO (intranet), etc. 2. Experiential Engagement & Major Event Production Event Production: Lead the design and production of large-scale engagement events (town halls/all-staff events, leadership summits, and galas). You are responsible for the "human experience" design, the visual identity, and the high-quality production execution. Leadership Forums: Curate and produce exclusive leadership experiences that align the Senior Leadership team, facilitating sessions that drive collective ownership of the T&I mandate. Budget management: manage end-to-end budgets for all engagement activities—including forecasting and tracking actual expenditures. Manage deliverables and relationships with external vendors/agencies. 3. Counsel & Communications Management Advisor to the Senior Director: Act as the primary communications counsel to help shape the leadership voice, positioning them effectively with various internal stakeholder groups. Executive Writing: Write high-impact speeches and messaging for the EVP and other MET members (all-staff, events, communications). Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with T&I senior leaders to ensure support and service in matters of communication and engagement. Establish and maintain strong links with Corporate Communications and other internal partners to ensure T&I is represented in the wider corporate conversation. 4. Team Leadership & Talent Development Team Leadership & Functional Influence: Directly manage and develop your immediate report while acting as the functional lead for the broader event planning team. Leveraging influence rather than authority, you will coach colleagues and contributing team members, helping the collective group evolve into proactive, high-performing tactical executors. Data-Driven Strategy: Oversee the development of KPIs and metrics to analyze sentiment and engagement trends, adjusting strategies based on data. Candidate Profile Education Required Qualifications: A university degree (Bachelor’s) in a relevant discipline such as Communications, Public Relations, Strategic Marketing, Business Administration, etc. Experience and proficiency in project management, event management, change management and organizational design methodologies. Asset: A Master’s degree in Communications or Business Administration (MBA) is considered a strong asset. Experience Strategic Leadership: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in strategic communications, transformation management, or organizational development, including experience advising senior executives. Event Production: Significant experience in large-scale event management, from concept creation to production and budget management. You must demonstrate the ability to manage the "theatre" of engagement (visuals, run-of-show, technology, and emotional impact) to connect the human experience to the strategy. Management: Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on business output, coaching and talent growth. Transformation Context: Experience working within a large, complex organization undergoing significant cultural or digital transformation. Competencies Bilingualism: Superior command of English and French (Reading, Writing, Speaking) is mandatory. Strategic Thinking: The ability to see the "bigger picture" and spot gaps/opportunities in the organizational narrative. Creativity and Experiential Mindset: Ability to conceive innovative initiatives that break the mould while remaining laser-focused on strategic objectives. You understand that engagement is about how people feel, not just what they read. Autonomy & Proactivity: High degree of self-starting capability, able to take ownership of complex initiatives and drive them forward with minimal supervision. Diplomacy & Influence: High political acuity and the ability to influence without authority, navigating sensitive issues with confidentiality. Project Management & Organizational Agility: You are a master coordinator of complex logistics. You possess superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects with many moving parts in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing. We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes: A mandatory Criminal record check. Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position. CBC/Radio-Canada is committed to being a leader in reflecting our country’s diversity.
