Your opportunity:
The Department of Medicine (DOM) is one of the largest in North America, with 830 full-time faculty members, 1,000 postgraduate trainees, and 20 specialty and sub-specialty divisions located across six fully-affiliated hospitals, four community-affiliated hospitals and more than a dozen additional clinical practice sites. We are a powerhouse of medical research, with more than $162-million in annual research funding. This research generates new knowledge with the goal of meaningfully impacting internal medicine training and the care and health outcomes of patients and their families.
As a Research Software Analyst, you will help advance data-driven research by applying qualitative and quantitative methods, processing and analyzing complex datasets, and contributing to the development of computational and machine learning approaches. You will ensure high standards of data quality, integrity, and reproducibility, maintain reliable research databases, and provide clear, analytical insights that support investigators, trainees, and collaborative research teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
- Analyzing and writing program scripts to extract, reformat and analyze data
- Running queries to gather data and processing data using technical tools
- Analyzing datasets and preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
- Providing detailed information on data analysis findings to stakeholders
- Generating statistical graphics and data quality reports to support research publications
- Verifying that datasets are properly entered and stored, maintaining databases, and correcting data discrepancies
- Keeping well-informed on current technologies, best practices and industry standards to support data-driven research
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience supporting research using qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Demonstrated experience developing machine learning models using clinical and physiological data
- Experience refining and validating AI algorithms
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and writing Python code for data preprocessing, feature extraction, modelling, and evaluation
- Demonstrated experience running queries and managing clinical or research databases (e.g., SQL, CSV/SON)
- Experience working with reproducible research tools or environments, such as Jupyter and Git, to support transparent workflows and publication-ready outputs
- Experience preparing statistical reports, summaries, and visualizations to support research papers and presentations
- Experience liaising with researchers or stakeholders to interpret computational needs and communicate analytical findings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders atall levels and cooperate in multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity, coupled with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
