Your opportunity:
The Assistant Director, working closely with and reporting to the Director, Business Development is responsible for business development in the Custom and Open Programs portfolio. Primary responsibility is in the following areas:
(1) Strategic Development and Growth – supporting the achievement of target revenues and profit margins for individual programs, across all industries and content areas
(2) Partnership and Business Development – being part of a team that prepares business development plans and budgets; identifying, pursuing and optimizing new and existing relationships with client organizations.
(3) Relationship Management - representing Rotman’s Executive Programs at client visits, events and conferences; maintaining relationships with alumni and clients, including key account management that ensures client satisfaction.
(4) New Product Design – working with the Director Business Development and faculty to develop new, client-focused programs and products that are financially viable and profitable.
(5) Open Enrolment – Conducting market research to determine what programs should be building, working with faculty to create new course offerings (including suggestions on content, format, etc.) and working with marketing on a marketing plan and selling the course.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing components of programs and initiatives that advance strategic objectives
- Researching potential target markets to inform recruitment plans
- Implementing program improvements and maintenance of program standards
- Conducting market research and analysis
- Planning and overseeing the implementation of strategic plan
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders andpartners of strategic importance
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant, progressively more senior work experience in executive education with experience in the development of custom programs, relationship management, and project management.
- Business development experience with senior level prospects and clients required.
- Demonstrated experience participating in the development of new business, and managing new and existing business relationships.
- Experience evaluating business opportunities and preparing proposals and negotiating contracts.
- Experience developing and managing budgets.
- Proven track record of project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and superb presentation skills.
- A strategic leader with demonstrated decision-making skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability and experience working collaboratively with teams and managing/coaching staff.
- Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and critical thinking.
- Strong organizational abilities, able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Maturity and professionalism needed to work with senior executives, and faculty is essential.
Assets (Nonessential):

- The incumbent must be able to effectively engage corporate clients, business partners, university administrators, faculty, staff, alumni and students.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 14 -- $91,677. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $117,242. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
