About Us
Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces, the New England region of the United States, and Bermuda. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. In Bedford, Nova Scotia.
In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.
Job Summary
This role is responsible for checking architectural and structural precast concrete elements and precast building layouts. To be successful in this role, one must be able to read precast unit drawings (reinforcing and hardware) and review precast layouts, elevations, sections and connection details. Communication and collaboration with Project Leader, Engineering, Shop and Erection is critical to ensure accuracy and to guarantee that each project is completed accurately.
Responsibilities
Checking architectural and structural precast concrete members, including bridges, building and miscellaneous members
Review Precast building layouts
Working with structural and architectural contract drawings
Other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements
Post-Secondary education in Civil, Architectural, Structural or Mechanical Technology is preferred, however, less education combined with appropriate experience will be taken into consideration
Minimum 5 years’ experience with drafting/detailing and experience with architectural, structural and mechanical contract drawings.

High attention to detail
Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset
Ability to read architectural and structural drawings is a requirement
