The Team Lead, Benefits Analytics is responsible for leading the analyst department supporting clients, developing sound underwriting strategies, policies, and procedures, and ensuring consistent and profitable risk selection across all lines of business. This individual will oversee a team of benefit analysts, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and support overall company growth by maintaining underwriting integrity and profitability. The Team Lead acts as the primary point of contact for escalations, provides training and support to team members, and collaborates with internal departments to drive process improvements and ensure accuracy and timeliness in plan administration. The Team Lead, Benefit Analytics Key Responsibilities: Strategic Analytics & Reporting Lead the development and delivery of benefit analytics and dashboards that provide insights into benefit utilization, cost trends and employee engagement Create reporting tools and templates using data analytics to ensure clients are provided with strategic analysis of their benefits plan performance, trends and sustainability Monitor and forecast healthcare claims, costs, and utilization patterns Use data and analytics to continuously improve analytic processes and standard operating guidelines to be implemented Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of benefit analysts. They will supervise, coach, and develop a team of group benefits analysts to achieve performance goals and maintain service quality standards Establish training programs to ensure team members stay current on industry standards and best practices Oversee annual evaluation of team members, conducting regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback and mentoring Manage daily workload distribution to ensure balanced work allocation and timely completion of tasks Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for process improvement Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement Operational Excellence Oversee the setup and maintenance of group benefit plans including enrollments, terminations, changes, and billing reconciliations. Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all plan data in accordance with company policies, carrier requirements, and legislative standards Serve as an escalation point for complex cases, client issues, or exceptions requiring specialized review Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance, and sales teams to resolve operational issues and improve cross-functional processes Training & Development Provide onboarding, training, and continuous learning opportunities for analysts Maintain team knowledge of benefit plan design, industry trends, and system functionality Develop and document operational procedures and best practices Client Service & Relationship Management Support client relationships by ensuring high-quality service delivery and issue resolution Partner with account management and sales teams to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded Participate in client meetings or renewal discussions when operational input is required To be a successful Team Lead, Benefit Analytics you will need: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field 5+ years of experience in group benefits administration/underwriting or operations (required) 2–3 years in a supervisory or lead role (preferred) Strong knowledge of group benefit plan designs, funding arrangements (insured, ASO, pooled), and carrier processes Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
