Course Title: PHY451H5 Classical Electrodynamics
Course Description: An overview of electromagnetism leading to the study of radiation. A review of electrostatics, magnetostatics, and Maxwell's equations is followed by a discussion of propagating, non-propagating and guided waves; interactions with dielectric boundaries; multipole radiation fields, and simple models of optical dispersion.

Course Enrolment (est): 24 students
Hours of work (est): 55 hours
Class schedule: In-person delivery on Fridays 9 – 11am.
Sessional dates of appointment: January 2026 – April 2026
Salary: CUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries. The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Previous TA/SIA experience marking assignments, quizzes, tests and/or final exam and working with undergraduate students in Physics tutorial setting an asset to be able to demonstrate and deliver course content consistently within the UofT's standards. Good communication skills are required as well.
Description of Duties: Duties will include leading tutorials, marking quizzes and/or assignments. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
