Health and Safety Specialist – Become a Pillar of Safety at UAP!
Under the direction of the Operational Support Director, you will contribute to strengthening occupational health and safety across the Napa, Traction, and Altrom divisions throughout Canada. As a partner to operational teams and the People and Culture department, you support managers and business partners in managing health and safety files by assisting with incident analysis, decision-making, and representation during interventions. You participate in identifying the root causes of incidents and deploying sustainable solutions.
You lead the prevention of critical risks through procedures, training, and projects, while ensuring legal compliance through rigorous risk assessments and inspections.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise and collaborate with business partners responsible for operations (stores and warehouses) to support decisions, corrective actions, and representation.
Assist managers in incident analysis and defining appropriate corrective measures.
Design, implement, and maintain health and safety procedures, including inspections, pallet rack safety, equipment operation, incident management, emergency plans, and safe handling of loads.
Participate in the health and safety onboarding program for new employees and managers.
Conduct regular site visits and provide recommendations to prevent risks.
Evaluate, update, and propose health and safety training based on needs.
Support health and safety committees in their preparation, follow-up, and facilitation.
Write and distribute clear communications to raise awareness and engage teams.
Ensure compliance with provincial health and safety legislation by adapting procedures and supporting their implementation.
Qualifications
University degree in industrial relations, business administration, engineering, or a related field, or a recognized health and safety certification, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in occupational health and safety.
Strong expertise in managing health and safety cases and supporting business partners.
Excellent knowledge of Canadian health and safety regulations, including Quebec’s Bill 59.
Excellent communication skills in both French and English, spoken and written. You will regularly collaborate with internal clients across Canada in the course of your duties.
