The Academic Advising & Career Centre (AA&CC) embraces a holistic philosophy in its delivery of integrated academic advising, learning skills, career development and employment coaching services to students. Your opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Career Supports, Team Lead, and in collaboration with your AA&CC team and tri-campus career centre colleagues, you will build and cultivate relationships with employers, alumni and campus partners. This includes providing outstanding service delivery to professionals across a wide spectrum of industry sectors, by ascertaining both their immediate and long-term needs.
Independently, and in consultation with other units at University of Toronto Scarborough and tri-campus partners, you will connect with employers and partners who wish to engage with UTSC students for employment and co-curricular programming purposes. This would include navigating them through the UofT career eco-system, posting opportunities and hosting events such as employer information sessions, networking events and career panels and fairs, as well as support AA&CC events, activities and programming.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Promoting experiential learning opportunities
- Providing detailed information to hosts on how to lead appropriate learning opportunities for students
- Determining key performance indicators to measure success
- Conceptualizing, organizing and executing program activities
- Consulting with instructors, administrators and student groups on the development of tailored programming needs
- Researching potential target markets to inform recruitment plans
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three (3) years of related experience in a university career centre, co-op, or recruitment setting developing and maintaining relationships, including active outreach
- Experience managing effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders (including employers, alumni, students, staff and faculty)
- Experience in employer development and knowledge of best-practices; developing, coordinating and implementing large scale programs
- Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills to cope with multiple projects and events occurring within short and overlapping time periods
- Strong written communication skills (e.g. report writing; drafting content for marketing materials) and the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with a diverse university student population in order to meet the needs of students
- Able to manage conflicting demands, and able to work well under pressure
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ability to source information and data using the Internet and social media sites such as LinkedIn
- Demonstrated experience working with CRM databases to track contacts (e.g. Orbis, Simplicity, Salesforce, LinkedIn Navigator)
- Broad knowledge of labour market trends
