Description:
Entrepreneurship is the key pathway for delivering and capturing value from new health and medical discoveries. All health science graduate students can benefit from having a basic understanding of entrepreneurial thinking – how to drive innovations forward in new or existing enterprises. This module will equip students with an entrepreneurial toolkit intended to help identify new opportunities; design new business ideas; and more effectively manage innovation and commercialization processes.
The module will introduce students to the basics of Business Design – an approach that combines human-centered design and business strategy delivering and capturing value from new discoveries. Students will use a platform to build the key elements of popular business model canvases to explore, assess and decide on the most critical factors in building business around their own idea/venture.
Estimated course enrollment: ~ 25 students

Class schedule: 2-hour seminar-style workshops; occurring Mondays from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Sessional dates of appointment: February 1, 2026 – April 30, 2026

Minimum qualifications: Minimum 5 years' experience in commercialization and business development models.
Preferred qualifications: Masters degree with equivalent professional and/or academic experience is preferred.
Description of duties: Preparation and delivery of course content, including lectures and/or seminars; creation of courseware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials, maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours.
