Job Description What is the opportunity? As a Senior Director, Corporate Client Group, you will contribute to and draw upon the global expertise and resources of Canada's largest financial institution to tailor financial solutions to assist corporate clients in the Power, Utilities, Renewables & Infrastructure sector in meeting their strategic objectives. You will have a mandate to support the growth of the sector coverage and ESG opportunities. You will provide ideas and advice that will achieve client’s shareholder value objectives focusing on: Capital structure Banking services Growth strategy (organic and acquisitions) Risk management Maximize RBC revenue/client with a particular focus on improving penetration of banking and capital market services Work closely with Corporate Client Group (“CCG”) Finance and Mid-Market Infrastructure & Project Finance to ensure proper risk oversight Engage CCG Sustainable Finance to ensure incorporation of key sustainability principals where appropriate Coordinate client coverage activity to ensure RBC Specialists are appropriately engaged with client to provide solutions Lead deal teams to ensure effective execution Achieve client acquisition and market share targets Ensure each client has appropriate coverage at Owner, CEO, CFO and Treasurer Level What will you do? Originate new clients for Corporate Client Group Bring sector specialized expertise to clients within the Power, Utilities, Renewables & Infrastructure sector Keep abreast of key industry developments at the regional / intra-regional levels, including building relationships with regulators, industry associations and market participants Develop and implement, in consultation with RBC partners, ideas and solutions to satisfy client needs and maximize revenue and profit goals/targets Develop a strategic understanding of company’s business model, market position and growth/divestiture plans. Understand risks and opportunities that will impact business performance Develop a mutual understanding of client needs for creation, protection and realization of shareholder value. Be viewed as a trusted Financial Advisor Work closely with Corporate Client Finance Group (CCFG) and Mid-Market Infrastructure Finance to ensure proper risk oversight Engage CCG Sustainable Finance to ensure incorporation of key sustainability principals where appropriate Develop and implement robust strategies for each client and prospect, to meet identified needs, pitch ideas and maximize revenue and profit (Return on Equity - ROE) opportunity Ensure appropriate senior coverage with Managing Director and Regional Head, CCG Create and deliver a superior/full customer experience to each client through careful pre-call research and planning, a ‘consulting’ approach, and regular client relationship reviews. Relationship reviews to be conducted at least annually for each client including a meeting with Ownership/Senior Executive and incorporating a detailed relationship summary Monitor progress against client strategies regularly with partners and clients, evaluating success against revenue targets, and taking action as required What do you need to succeed? Degree in Business, Economics or Finance or equivalent experience 10+ years’ experience in Corporate Lending and/or Corporate Finance Prior work experience in or covering the power or utilities sector, understanding of key power and utility industry concepts (e.g. revenue and cost frameworks, capital structure) Strong analytical and technical skills Strong credit acumen Proven business development skills Excellent ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics Professional written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with a marketing orientation Ability to perform well under pressure, meet time sensitive deadlines, prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities while working for multiple people Commitment to task and attention to detail Nice to have: MBA, CFA, CPA, P. Eng or other relevant professional designations are considered an asset Demonstrated leadership skills What’s in it for you?
