As a Horizontal and Vertical Machining Center Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNC machines (lathes, mills, etc.) and/or heat treatment equipment, producing parts used in the manufacture of equipment designed to withstand the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. The successful candidate will have experience working with measurement tools, such as micrometers and calipers, to ensure that machined parts meet the required dimensions and tolerances. When not operating machinery, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the machinery, ensuring all fluids are topped up and clean.

Dedicated Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday
Job Duties:
Set up and operate CNC machines, such as lathes and mills, and/or heat treatment equipment, monitoring machine feed, speed, etc., to meet part specifications
Load parts onto/into equipment using cranes and other designated lifting devices
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials
Calculate dimensions or tolerances, measuring, examining, and/or testing completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers or Vernier calipers
Maintain machines and tooling in proper operational condition
Skills and Experience:
Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, and able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
Machining tasks require collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects involving multiple team members
Ability to troubleshoot equipment errors and solve problems effectively and efficiently
Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pulling, pushing, lifting and/or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending
Qualifications:
Experience setting up, editing programs and operating CNC machining systems such as mills and lathes, and/or heat treat and power skiving equipment
Good working knowledge of tools, blueprints, and engineering drawings
