Position Summary:
The Health Education Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering relevant health education resources and programming for individuals across the lifespan. This role supports health promotion and prevention by providing accessible, strengths-based education in areas such as mental health and addictions, harm reduction, prenatal and postnatal health, youth wellness, and men’s and women’s health. This role will also offer workshops, themed program days, and training opportunities offered on both a scheduled and walk-in basis.
The Health Education Coordinator role plays a central coordination function by creating, updating, and sharing health education materials, supporting consistent program messaging, and ensuring timely communication about available programming and services through social media sites.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and deliver health education programming for individuals across the lifespan;
- Provide education and programming in key areas including mental health and addictions, harm reduction, prenatal and postnatal health, youth wellness, and men’s and women’s health;
- Facilitate workshops, presentations, and themed program days on a variety of health promotion topics;
- Offer training opportunities, including naloxone education and overdose prevention, on both a scheduled and walk-in basis;
- Adapt programming to meet diverse learning styles, age groups, and community need;
- Create, update, and maintain relevant health education resources, including print and digital materials;
- Ensure resources are accurate, accessible, evidence informed, and responsive to emerging community needs;
- Coordinate and share timely updates on health education programming and activities;
- Support engagement through social media platforms by creating and posting health promotion content;
- Promote upcoming workshops, themed days, training opportunities, and walk-in services;
- Track participation, attendance, and feedback related to education sessions and training;
- Contribute to evaluation, quality improvement, and planning processes;
- Identify emerging trends or gaps in health education needs and recommend program adjustments;

- Participate in STC Accreditation and maintain best practices and quality improvement;
- Adhere to STC policies and procedures;
- Perform other related duties as defined and assigned on an as and when required basis.
Working Environment:
- Services provided in a community setting which may present many unknown variables;
- Exposure to clients who may have impaired judgment due to emotional distress, mental illness, withdrawal or intoxication;
- Flexible hours. Weekend, evening or holiday work may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Freedom of movement throughout office and community spaces
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Keyboarding (>2 hours at a time)
- Ability to facilitate group sessions and presentations
- Driving and sensory demands
- Ability to take breaks as necessary

Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in Health Promotion, Public Health, Education, Social Work, or a related field;
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in health education, health promotion, or community-based programming;
- Experience planning and delivering workshops, training, or group facilitation;
- Experience in mental health, addictions, harm reduction, or overdose prevention is an asset;
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is considered an asset;
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and basic social media platforms
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
• Knowledge and understanding of health promotion, prevention, and harm reduction principles;
• Knowledge of mental health and addictions, overdose prevention, and lifespan wellness;
• Ability to design, coordinate, and deliver engaging health education programming;
• Strong facilitation, presentation, and public speaking skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to create clear, accessible, and culturally appropriate education resources;
• Comfort using social media platforms to share health promotion information;
• Interpersonal skills: builds rapport, communicates clearly, and adapts to diverse audiences;
• Dependability: able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines;
• Integrity: maintains confidentiality and adheres to organizational policies and ethical standards;
