The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) is a Crown corporation responsible for overseeing the Canadian federal interests in four international bridge crossings between Canada and the United States. Its mandate is to provide the highest level of stewardship so that the international bridges and associated structures are safe and efficient for users. FBCL owns, manages and operates international bridges and associated structures in Sault Ste. Marie, Point Edward, Lansdowne (Thousand Islands) and Cornwall, Ontario.
The Bridge Attendant Summer Student supports the collection of toll fees from private and commercial customers. The incumbent provides service to customers in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining a sound understanding of applicable FBCL’s policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Toll Collection 85%
Communicates rate and payment options; and,
Collects toll and fee payments.
Traffic Flow Regulation 15%
Holds and releases traffic at toll booth as directed; and,
Reports suspicious activities and potential risk situations to Operations Supervisor.
Essential Qualifications
Comfort with the use of electronic systems is required
Prior experience in the collection of payment, including POS is an asset
Demonstrated initiative is required
Demonstrated problem solving approach is required
Customer responsiveness is required
Decision Making/Judgement is required
Conducting oneself in a professional manner is required
Detail orientation is required
Time management and ability to maintain focus is required
Basic computer skills are required;
Successfully completed the enhanced criminal record check; and,
Bilingual (French and English) is an asset.
